In 2001, my family and I moved into our current NJ home.  I loved its size, walk-out
basement with windows, and nice big studio to indulge my glass fix.  I wasn't thrilled
with the amount of updating the house needed.  But it had "great bones" as they say and
we got to work.  Last year, we finally tackled our biggest project, the kitchen.  I was
excited to incorporate my glass art into the final design.  I hope you like it.
We selected a cabinet that would require a
glass panel.  I had seen a square panel years
ago that I liked and modified the design into
a rectangle. I used several types of textured
clear glass for added interest.
The floor tiles, granite tops and cabinets are very neutral.  I wanted
to brighten up the backsplash and walls with color.  I selected Sicis
iridized mosaic tiles (in purple) for the background and created a
fused glass mural as the focal point for above the cooktop.  The
center "cloverleaf" design is one full fused tile (about 13" in
diameter).  The other tiles are individual fused glass pieces (some
with dichroic glass).

Throughout the kitchen, there are 8 4"x4" abstract fused tiles to
compliment the mural.
